We decided building the frame would be the best option since the supercharger location would be impossible to work with the stock frame. To get started required collecting all of the suspension and wheels so we could figure out how to piece it together.
The front end will be off an xr75 with an xr80 neck and bearings.
The front wheel is an old 17" spoolie chopper wheel a member had laying around with bearings swapped out to fit the xr75 axle, and machined aluminum axle spacers.
For the rear a Honda xl350 rear rim laced to the stock cb350 hub. Holes drilled for rim locks.
M-H vintage drag slick.
All of the parts in the same space to figure out where the frame tubing will go.
A little sketching here and there.
Getting the basic dimensions and angles figured out for the frame. None of this is set in stone, but for the most part how things will lay out. Axle plates are 17mm version A from here http://www.xs650.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6077. The frame will be 1" tubing for everything but the backbone which will be 1 1/2".
This isn't the final rendering, but close to what we are trying to achieve.
I now have the majority of materials needed to start putting it all together, so the next post should be jig construction.

cb350 supercharged drag bike : 02
cb350 supercharged drag bike : 01
A while back our vintage riding club decided to build a drag bike for the HAMB drags at Mokan Raceway in Joplin MO. Each year they hold a vintage traditional styled drag meet with very few motorcycles, so we wanted to try and spark some competition. Originally we started working with a CA77 61 Dream 305 motor, but ended up using one of my spare cb350 motors instead.
The motor will remain mostly stock as far as internals go, but an Aisin amr300 we got shipped
over from Australia will be forcing induction. An
alcohol prepped draw through 33mm Amal setup will provide fuel. Here's some pics of the progress building the intake and pulley system done by one of the club members.
The stock plate for the SC was a bit thin, so a new one was machined to take it's place.
That just about catches everything up for the motor. I will get a post up shortly to cover the forks, wheels, and frame.

tt500 build : part 12
I've been dragging my feet getting the tt500 head replaced, but found some free time last week to start the process. Motor has been pulled, and just about everything stripped off the bike. I popped the head off only to find the valve must have dropped at some point chipping the valve pocket and gouging the edge of the bore. The bore itself is in horrible condition visually and physically as well.
While I am getting the motor sorted, the frame will be finish welded, and all the tank/fender mounts will be taken care of. Here's most of it blown apart.

Head gasket leak ended up being more involved than originally thought. Some galling on one of the the cam bearings and cap. Found a new head and cam for less than $60 shipped that are in great condition, but best of all they came from the same bike.
Good.
Bad.
The left bore looks perfect, but the right has some flaws. No gouges or anything, but some water marks. At this point I am going to let it be. The bike barely wisps any smoke, and 440 rings/pistons are really pricey and fairly rare. There are big bore options using gs850 pistons, but that requires reaming the little end of the rods and huge weight reduction to match close enough to stock weight. I'm not ready to tackle that yet.
For the time being, I am soaking the gas tank in vinegar to get rid of sediment and rust. Hell, I may even start painting parts.
